Time Alone

I don’t know why but Spanish people are always together. We always make jokes about be together. We say for example that if you have to change a light you have to make a party to change the light. I am used to travel and I don’t know why I always meet Spanish speakers. When I was in Canada I had a group of friends and we were more than 20 Spanish speakers. I think we are always together is because we are similar and in our culture we are always having fun. American people is different they have fun but in a different ways. Latin people are always dancing. We are always thinking in what we are going to do to be together. However even friends are important for me is important to have time by myself. I don’t know why but sometime I feel boride about people and I need to be alone. I think people have to learn how to be alone because we don’t have to de dependent of others to be happy. You have to enjoy when you are with people but you have to enjoy the time that you spend alone. Some people feel sad when they are alone and that is so bad because they begging to create dependent relations with others. They start to be obsessive. I love my friends and family but I love to have time for me alone. I think that is because I was always alone when I was a child. My mother was always working and I don’t have brother or sisters. I was alone in my house studying, sleeping or watching television. I think that is one of the reasons because I grow up too early.

Dreams

I have a lot of goals for my future. First I want to start my master degree in business communication. I want to get a job in a company called Pizollante that is especially in business communication. Then I want to start to work in my own company but I think that first I have to get experience. I want to have clients like Microsoft, Procter and Gamble or IBM. I really want to be a good professional with a lot of experience and education. I want to speak good English. In my personal life I want to be happy with my husband and I want to have 2 children. I would like a girl and a guy. I hope to have a beautiful family. I would like to give my mother all that she gave to me and more. Of course I want to have money enough to buy whatever I want. Another goal that I have is to be a good person. I pray for not hurt any one. I hope to help every person that asks me for help. I am working to achieve all my goals. My big fear is not achieving my goals because that can makes me feel so sad in the future. However I am optimist and I know that if you work hard to find something you can achieve it. I think that if you have a lot of fears you cannot do anything because the fear cannot leave do nothing. Also if you have fears you can attack them to you. I think is better to be positive and to work hard for your goals. Those are my dreams and I hope to achieve them.

Danger of Extinction

According to the article “The brown pelican’s return to coastal Louisiana” the author states that brown pelicans have a history in Louisiana, but they disappeared from there. Brown pelicans arrived in Louisiana because Iberville, first coasting of the Gulf of Mexico, took the pelicans and carried on to the New World with 24 feminine birds in hope that they would provide an incentive for permanent settlements. Then in 1966 the pelican received the honor to being officially adopted as the state bird. However the author explains that the pelican bird started to decrease it’s population in the state of Louisiana until they totally disappeared. The scientist began to study why the pelican had disappeared; they could not have proof to know at that moment why the birds migrated. They believed that the reason had been two tropical storms in 1956 and 1957. However, years later, in California, the pelicans started to disappear too but the research found that thousands of pounds of the pesticide DDT had been used in the state. Fishes that are part of the food of the pelicans had absorbed the DDT. As a result of this in 1968 the Louisiana state started a program to restocking brown pelicans. They transported the pelicans from Florida. The program started to be successful and the birds started to increase and sustain their population.

So many of the environmental problems are caused by humans but human cannot migrate across, the Earth like pelicans did when they did not find food. However some of the humans can create a lot of programs to help to maintain the Earth. Also humans are intelligent to use the technology to help the Earth and try not to cause more damage.

Humans are always creating pollution without thinking of the environment. The problem is that when they started to think about the environment, it could be too late. Every day too many species disappear from the Earth because of the damage of humans and one of these species could be humans too. Humans do not have the possibility to migrate to another planet, like the movie WALL-E. Neither do we have the possibility to move to another country like brown pelicans, because we are too many people for just one country. Humans have to be more conscious to think about the future. Humans have to respect the environment to subsist in the Earth. We have proof of the damage that we are causing and the migration of the pelicans can be one example of this. Humans do not have possibilities like pelicans.

However humans can start to create some programs in order to protect the environment. The program that Louisiana State started protected one of the species of the Earth. Humans have to take the environmental problems seriously. They have to start to take seriously the methods of reuse, recycle and reduce. It is incredible that people, knowing the environmental problems that the Earth has, are not worried about doing something. Every day you can see in the place to recycle a lot of things that are not to recycle. Even if people have to places to put the garbage, they mix everything recyclable and not. However it is important to create educational programs to explain to people how they can take care of the environment.

Humans have to think about how they can create technology to help to clean the environment without causing more damage. Some person is creating a machine those functions in order to clean the air pollution. Mexico City is one of the cities where the machine had been tested. Humans have to figure out the problem of why green technology is more expensive than regular technology. Whirlpool, for example, has a line of washing machines that are green and not cause damage to the environment, but this line is the most expensive, and no one will buy it. Humans have technology and they must use it for the best.

Humans can continue causing damage to the environment, but they could disappear if they are too late. If the human race wants to live in the Earth forever, they have to think of the planet. They have to create programs that help to take care of the environment, and they have to use the technology in the same way. The Earth could not be forever.

Fluency

Technology

Technology can help you to learn another language. Just with a computer you can practice your skills in other language, like reading, speaking and writing. With technology you can even learn the new language because right now we have a lot of programs that make you speak many languages spending 5 minutes a day. Fluency is one of the interactive programs that helps you to learn other languages. With the program of fluency you have to talk with the computer, you have to read and play games. With fluency you can watch videos and hear conversations too. Technology also can help you to understand another language by introducing voice or text in minutes. However technology sometime can cause damage when you are learning other languages. For example the word processor cannot help you to learn grammar, because Word corrects your mistakes when you are writing. Even thought I think that technology can help you to learn another language, I think in the future we just will need a chip to learn another language.

Global Warming could bring terrible consequences

According to the article “Warming Imperils Md. Species; Scientists Fear Loss of Baltimore Oriole, Native Brook Trout” written by Fahrenthold (2008), the global temperature is increasing and that causes a lot of change in the world such as the shifting bird migration or the disappearing of some species. The brown pelican, which is native of Louisiana, has left from there. Now over 1,000 brown pelican have been born in Washington. The brook trout also could be disappearing because of their intolerance for heat. However the public’s interest has been stoked and authorities are trying to find a solution. Researchers are trying to find a solution to make trout remain in Washington. The author mentions other consequences of climate change; for example people who watch birds have noticed that the birds that they were watching were related with warming weather. Plants are changing too; Washington’s cherry blossoms are flowering days earlier than before. Finally the author presents two postures of people. One said that the cycle of the nature is changing and we have to deal with this but, others said that hot temperatures could cause a lot of damage for the life.

The author has a good point, that climate change affects the life in the world and we can prove that, because we can see the changes. Some consequences of global warming could be that the human race could disappear; the food could not be enough and every day the land of the world is sinking in the ocean.

The human race could disappear. Some people can think that it is not a problem that the brown pelican migrated to Washington, but that is a big problem because it is one of consequences of the global warming. That the brown pelican, which is native of Louisiana, which is an state located in the south, migrated to the north is a worrisome situation. What would happen with the humans that live in the south if the global warming continues? Do we have to migrate to the north? That is not a possibility, and the human race could start to disappear. Not only are brown pelicans migrating but other species are starting to change too, and at the end of this era maybe we will have more problems with the heat of the world.

The food could disappear too, if the world continues increasing its temperature. Nature could not produce the renewable resources. A lot of our food comes from nature and could not be produced at high temperatures. Animals are also our food and they start to be suffering, more than humans, the global warming consequences. Animals can disappear because they have started to have problems to find their own food; for example brown pelicans in the warm ocean cannot find their food and they are migrating. If the animals disappear and the nature cannot produce food because of the temperature, what will humans eat? The food will not be enough.

The land is sinking in the ocean; that is happening because the glaciers are melting. One of global warming consequences is that the Earth temperature is increasing and the poles start to be warming. The ice in the poles is melting and the water runs around the oceans and covers the land of the countries. Humans in countries from the coast start to suffer inundations and a lot of people could lose their houses. Animals in the poles are suffering too; for example, in the coast of Brazil someone found a family of penguins,, some had died and some were almost dead. Global warming could make our countries disappear.

Global warming affects the whole world, and every day we can see more consequences of this with the passing of the years. We have to be worried, because the human race could disappear. Food could not be enough for humans and countries are sinking in the water. What we need is for more people to start thinking of the Earth. The last of these consequences could be the worst

Halloween

In my culture we don’t celebrate Halloween and we don’t have any holiday related with dead. However since few years ago we started to see some things related to Halloween in the street. The reason of this is that we have a lot of American influence. Every article in Venezuela is imported from the United States. If Americans have a holiday in Venezuela we will have the same holiday because the merchandise comes from America. In Venezuela people likes party and everything related with party will be successful in my country. Today in so many bars you can find Halloween parties. Also you can see Halloween decorations in shopping centers. However this is not a tradition in Venezuela. Halloween is not celebrated for everyone in my country. People how is in a better social class know about Halloween but is not the whole country. Venezuelan people prefer Christmas. Everybody in Venezuela celebrate Christmas. We have American influence in our Christmas because we use Christmas tree but this is not our tradition. We have a lot of Santa Clause images but we believe in Jesus Christ. We celebrate Christmas on December 24th. We make a dinner with our family. We cook hallacas that is a traditional plate in Christmas. The arty start before 12 pm. And everybody give you a present for Christmas. For children the go to bed a Baby Jesus give them some presents too. Our Christmas is different but I don’t have doubt about the American influence in my country. I like American holidays and I don’t care about the influence that American have in my country. I like Halloween and I like to celebrate it.
